For a STEAM lesson, the 5th Graders did an Egg Drop activity. The groups found many natural materials to prevent a raw egg from breaking when they drop the container from the first floor to the ground floor. Discussions included the concepts of collision, force, inertia, energy, etc. The egg of the group that used soil to cushion it did not break. The egg of the other group that used leaves and twigs broke.

FIS celebrated a meaningful Anti-bullying event today, Sept. 27th. Hosted and led by Mr. Fred, we had a parade showing off our fun and silly outfits that meant it is okay and not wrong to be different and that we can express ourselves without fear. We also played a game to differentiate what constitutes bullying, and an activity called the kindness paper chain that served as the students’ promise to stop bullying.

They cordially talked about current and future support, feedback about our resources, collaboration, and opportunity for training. There was a discussion about what makes a strong and effective approach to Language Arts and Mathematics. In the meeting were Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Truc- Principal of Primary School and Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Mai- Principal of Kindergarten and Preschool along with Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin- School Librarian, and Ms. Susan Isip, Primary School Coordinator.

From mooncake making to creative lanterns, fruit arrangement contests, and Mid-Autumn story roleplays, the day was filled with fun and meaningful activities. 🎨🎶 The event not only captured the spirit of the festival but also enriched the students' love for the culture through dances, songs, and even a fashion show showcasing the beauty of tradition! 🌸 🍂

Also called Tết Trung Thu, the tradition focuses on kids after the busy harvest season. The festival is held under the full moon, symbolizing a full and prosperous life. The gradeschool children had the opportunity to express themselves in a creative and artistic way while developing teamwork. As part of the Mid-Autumn Festivities, designing a dragon head activity was a great reinforcement to storytelling and dragon/lion dance. The rich tradition of the season promised a great source of cognitive, creative, and social benefits to the children.
